Bald Eagles in Iowa

Hello, 1C! As we are learning about animals right now, I want to share my FAVORITE animal website with you all.

The bald eagle is the national bird of the U.S., and is a beautiful and strong animal. In the spring, bald eagles mate with their partner, and lay eggs in huge nests, high in trees. Scientists have been watching a bald eagle couple in Decorah, Iowa (about one hour from where I used to live), and a few years ago, placed a camera in the tree above their nest. The camera streams video to the internet all the time, so viewers can see what the eagles are doing right now. You can see when they are eating, when they are sleeping, and how they are acting at that moment.

There are two adult eagles (Mom and Dad) and three eggs that they take turns sitting on. The eggs should hatch at the end of this month, and then you will be able to watch the eaglets grow up. This is a very exciting way to see the way animals behave when they are living in their natural habitat.
